Only 256 colors can be displayed on the notebook PC

When only 256 colors can be displayed due to hardware limitations, the image quality cannot be expected to be reproduced even if 24-bit full colors are imported.

Nonetheless, the 256 color constraint is imposed only on the monitor; the printer can reproduce the full range of colors.

For printouts, the image type must be set for the 24-bit colors before scanning the image.

Scan images for the Web at 256. By doing this, the file size will be made smaller and use less hard disk space. For images that contains a large quantity of the same color, an acceptable and pleasing image can be reproduced with 256 colors.

Alternatively, use the JPEG file format. The data compression rate for 256 colors is 1/3, but with JPEG files, a compression rate of 1/10 is possible with little image deterioration.
